My shopping bag

Here's a quick look of a few of my recent purchases:

Moda Spana Shoes, Quita (Purchased at DSW)

I wore the Moda shoes and this dress to my high school reunion.  Loved them both!  Here's a little preview:

Back to School!

I feel like the past two weeks have been a blur!  Between planning my high school reunion and getting my classroom ready there haven't been enough hours in the day and sleep has been minimal.  I'm happy to say that today has been a relaxing Sunday and I'm ready to start this next week.

I am returning to my same school and classroom this year.  It's been great to start the year off with kiddos instead of coming in mid-year.  I've been working on my room and I'm sure it will be a work in progress as I continue to gather up everything I've had my eye on (sidenote: a shopaholic + an empty classroom = dangerous situation!)

All I can say is that I'm so, soo, sooo excited about this year.

And my sweet family sent me these gorgeous "Frist Day of School" flowers!  I've decided that fresh flowers will need to be in my classroom every few weeks because they really do make that space feel calming and special.  It's been a while since I've received flowers--I forgot how special they make you feel!

Just a little preview of my room, I'll post more later.  Yes, tons of Baylor stuff--the students LOVE talking about college and it makes me so happy that College Week is actually part of my curriculum.  Sic'em Bears!

Sand Crab Recap

I have been MIA!  These past two weeks have been truly insane...more on that later.  I have lots of quick updates to post and my goal is to blog at least weekly + be more on top of race recaps.

I'm pretty sure I did not blog about the Lunar Rendezvous or Dynamo Run for the Goal.  I'll just say that both of those races were HOT & HUMID!  I have also promised not to complain when it gets cold in Houston.  You can always put more clothes on, but there's only so much you can take off!

I was really happy with the Sand Crab Nighttime race in Galveston.  A few of us spent the afternoon laying on the beach before race time.  We got to teh race at 7 p.m. for the third wave of the packet pick up.  It was very slow, but we got our stuff and were ready to go.  Unfortunately everyone else had the same idea to get their packet just before the race, and as a result the start time got pushed back 45 mins. Oops!  Close to 1500 decided to come out to the race, but since Galveston is so far out of the way and there wasn't a packet pickup location in Houston (only on the island) it was pretty much impossible to get everyone squared away and start on time.  I heard very few complaints, and once the race got started it was awesome!

The breeze was amazing, and at one point I turned around and saw hundreds of white lights coming down the pitch-dark beach.  I can't imagine what it looked like to passers-by on the Seawall.  I opted to run with a flashlight rather than a headlamp since it was a complete fail last time, and I was fine and never got tired of holding it.

I felt awesome, the best I've felt during my 5Ks during the summer.  I took my time and finished at a slow 00:36:00, but just like the Chupacabra nighttime race you have to spend a lot of time jumping over and around holes on the beach.  I swear someone went out along the course and built 20 sand castles complete with moats!

The post-race party was great and even had a complete dinner (BBQ or veggie burger!).  This is the second time I have gotten food only to realize I am NOT hungry after I run.  I'm quite satified with something small, some water, and a beer :)  I ended up chunking this entire plate of food.  I know, I hated me too.

Overall a great race and I can't wait for Run in Texas to come back to Houston!!!

Ready for our nighttime run!

Afterwards.  This was my friend Tessa's first 5K!  She did AWESOME!  Yep, and the food I wasted.  Lame! The Real Ale was tasty though :)

Reunions & Pillow Cases

I drove up to Austin on Sunday to meet up with my besties/roommates from college.  Sirena now lives in Bahrain and usually only comes over twice a year.  She was in town for a family wedding and we all decided to it was the perfect opportunity for a reunion!

We met up for dinner at Moonshine, a group favorite! Everything here is delish, especially the mac'n'cheese.  Everyone ordered it as their side.

Laura, who has always been crafty and has the best handwriting and is a master CD, made each of us our own travel pillow case!  Truly the sweetest, most thoughtful gift ever!  She is always very intentional and thoughtful and picked fabric she thought reflected each of us.  She also was in charge of our mixed CD.  We each turned in the names of a few songs we love at the moment.  It's a great way to connect to your friends!

We all met our freshman year of college at Baylor, and all lived together our senior year.  Apt. #211!  It's rare we're all five together so it's important to get some group shots.  We also decided to bust out a few sorority poses!

While it's fun to remember our college days and be silly with each other (it's so easy), we've done a lot of growing up over the last 10 years.  There's been weddings (and bachelorette parties) and babies (and baby showers).  We were able to spend some time with Laura's sweet baby boy who is growing up so, so fast!

(We were trying to make him smile/not cry.  Hello, could we be any scarier!?)

Love, Love, Love, Love each of you!!!
